Software Resources has an immediate, long term contract job opportunity for a Sr. Project Manager with a major corporation in Jacksonville, FL.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for managing multiple large, complex projects and provides a single point of contact for those projects. Accountable for establishing project management framework, tracking progress, managing risk, and controlling change in order to ensure delivery that meets time, cost and quality objectives. The position may work directly for a project sponsor or for a Program Manager with limited supervision. The position requires in-depth knowledge and proven application of project management methodologies and full project life cycle processes.

Job Duties, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Provide project management expertise to plan, organize, manage and deliver multiple projects simultaneously. Work with functional managers across the organization, external parties and/or vendors to assure appropriate resourcing of projects. Act as liaison with all business units, subject matter experts, all IT areas and/or vendors to maintain strategic link to business needs.
  • Manage project scope and acquire the necessary approval for change orders. Secure documented acceptance of project deliverables and change orders. Ensure all impacts and dependencies of the project are addressed. Participate in and coordinate issue identification and facilitate resolution, as well as risk identification and mitigation. Develop and manage the project timeline, roadmap, and/or schedule as needed. Assure compliance with company project management policies and standards. Assign and monitor work of project team members, providing support and direction as needed.

  • Create and execute internal project communication plan that includes maintenance of project artifacts, project meeting highlights and project data. Ensure all other necessary plans are defined and executed (i.e. training, knowledge transfer, OCM, cutover, corporate communications, etc.)
  • Support the Project Portfolio Management area.
  • Work with the business areas to develop business cases and/or justification to approve starting new initiatives.
  • Work with the business areas to develop initial Benefits Realization plan including metrics and approach to transition monitoring to the business to determine if value is being obtained (short and long term). Revisit benefits realization plan throughout implementation and modify as needed. Post implementation begin reporting against the benefits realization plan and transition to business for long term monitoring.
  • Evaluate Organizational change management needs and develop appropriate plans.
  • For delivery of projects involving Agile Teams, collaborate with Product Owners and serve as navigator and protector of the teams vs. active managing.
  • Ability to facilitate or solve complex problems through analytical approaches
  • Proficient in MS Office including Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
  • Techniques for end-to-end management/delivery of complex projects
  • Project Management methodologies, principles
  • IT delivery methodologies; SDLC, Agile, waterfall, scrum
  • Diverse business and technical concepts
  • Communicate effectively (verbal, written, presentation) with the ability to tailor communication content to audiences
  • Ability to facilitate or solve complex problems through analytical approaches
  • Demonstrated initiative and ownership with the ability to complete short and long term projects
  • Ownership, take charge mentality; assuming full responsibility/accountability.
  • Dynamic organizational and planning skills; evidenced by the ability to effectively manage a varied project tasks and resource types.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills with proven ability to facilitate cross-functional teams including quickly building and motivating for high performance.

Required Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree OR 4 years relevant experience OR a combination of college education and experience equivalent to 4 years
  • 8 or more years overall professional level experience to include 3 years in a lead project management capacity
  • PMP Certification or working towards certification
  • 10 or more years of project management experience
  • 5 or more years of experience in the insurance industry
  • PMP certification before 2008 or earlier
  • Agile certification
  • SAFe Program Consultant (SPC)
  • Familiarity with an I.T. Organization
  • Experience in strategic and annual project financial planning
  • Experience in an organization using a Scaled Agile Framework
