PERFORMANCE ENGINEERING TECHNICAL DIAGNOSTIC
JOB DESCRIPTION:

Performance Engineering Technical Diagnostic role is responsible for providing technical vision, independent direction thought leadership for application and infrastructure projects through the software development lifecycle. This includes technical leadership responsibility for ongoing application performance diagnostics, tuning, and performance enhancement recommendation according to business need and defined operational level commitments for each functional project. This also includes technical direction and individual accountability to ensure the PE documentation, PE RFC's accuracy, Perf-test environment shakeout, performance tool monitoring, work load characterization and application/container and infrastructure performance test environment are configured accurately prior to performance testing implementation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Conduct code profiling, static code analysis, dynamic code analysis and identify performance bottlenecks, provide recommendations and provide performance analysis report
• Responsible for tracking Performance Engineering detected defects in standardized defect tracking tool and providing recommendations on improving performance of the identified issues/bottlenecks.
• Setup monitoring tools and monitor appropriate layers to ensure complete coverage to identify performance issues and provide analysis and recommendations to improve performance of the identified bottlenecks
• Provide inputs and assist in developing the Performance Testing strategy and execution plans.
• Assist in the preparation and review of performance test results report, final deliverables including the overall findings and recommendations of performance engineering projects.
• Understand and promote the concept of performance engineering during all phases of the SDLC, to deliver performance certified applications to deployment teams.
• Participate in transitioning the designs to the developers and system engineers, and ensure a clear and complete understanding of the designs
• Understand and communicate specific application components and technologies
• Manage the configuration of applications and technologies and their respective metadata
• Manage minor issues independently, providing guidance to junior members of the team participate in the setting of standards around applications and technologies and manage their lifecycle
• Provide explanations to project teams about standard work performed on their systems and technologies
• Research trends in technology and/or application development patterns
• Assist the technology or application architects in the response to proposals, including design and validation of architectures
• Assist in defining and reviewing requirements and use cases for the application or technology including security, integration, performance, quality, and operations requirements
• Use the business process requirements to drive out application and technology requirements and metrics
• Design components of the application or technology to meet the business process design and application requirements
• Validate the design with the stakeholders to ensure that the design satisfies the requirements
• Inform the technical and application architects and project manager of any issues that may affect other areas of the project
• Design application user interfaces, classes, and components as applicable to application or technology domain
• Utilize PE team best practice and standardized process
• Responsible to identify performance related issues/concerns and raise them to the attention of the PE Test Arch or PE Tech Arch.
• Responsible for understanding the set processes and standards (change management, configuration management, etc.) and verifying team compliance
• Maintain and update PE deliverable standards as necessary
• Responsible for developing ideas and plans for reducing overall operations support
• Instill commitment to quality, customer service, ownership, and teamwork
• Communicate team goals (formal and informal), expectations, organizational philosophies, and policies and procedures to the functional team
• Manage team development, coaching and effectiveness for all direct reports

• Drive standardization of performance engineering delivery artifacts
• Continue to drive increase quality of operations work produced from Performance Engineering
• Continue to drive increase standardization of Operation work produced from PE
• Drive operational efficiencies via creation, maintenance and improvements
• Coordinate and produce PE delivery timelines for operational projects
• Prepare, coordinate and drive annual Performance Engineering Technology roadmap (Technical innovation)
• Enforce Service Introduction principles to ensure clear alignment with Track teams
• Enforce standardization and alignment with Service Architecture Technology Architecture team
• Enforce license compliance of all Performance Engineering and Diagnostics software.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Highly trained resource with experience in the design thru deploy application lifecycle management with a strong technical background in performance diagnostics and performance testing in a large enterprise environment. Strong application experience and working acumen of performance tools such as Microfocus Load Runner, JMeter, NeoLoad, MS VSTS, SoapUI, SOASTA, CA LISA, Parasoft, Chrome Dev tools, and Fiddler. Implementation experience and expertise with diagnostic tools such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, New Relic, ELK (KibanaGrafana). Strong leadership skills with experience leading teams of 10 or more resources with the ability to communicate clearly to a technical and nontechnical audience (written and verbally).
Comprehensive understanding of digital application architecture, large on-premise and Cloud large Enterprise infrastructure architecture, waterfall and agile application lifecycle, and ITIL methodologies.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Performance Engineering Technical Diagnostic role will report directly into Performance Engineering TeamGroup Lead Role.
