Software Resources has an immediate, direct hire job opportunity for a hands-on IT Project Manager/PMO in Century City, CA. Candidates should be aware of new compliance initiatives such as GDPR , ISO 27001 and financial reporting.

The position will plan, coordinate, budget, implement and complete projects. This candidate's time will be divided among new projects, other ongoing initiatives and production support activities.    
In larger projects, the candidate will have indirect (matrix) management responsibility for a small team of dedicated and agile IT professionals. The candidate must demonstrate a willingness to roll up one's sleeves and when needed get involved in business analysis, specification document writing, working with external auditors, help with financial management and even perform Quality Assurance testing when appropriate.
The Project Manager will work in the IT Governance & Planning Group in the Global IT division for the corporate offices of Korn Ferry. This candidate's time will be divided among various projects supporting the IT Governance, Operations, Security and Privacy teams.
The project manager must be willing to embrace and learn the family of products and the supporting software platforms. Over time he/she should become a Subject Matter Expert and demonstrate and ability to:

  • Describe the characteristics of the family of software platforms/portfolio and show how they are inter-related (hi-level technical support)
  • Identify legacy and current system architecture answers to questions (detail functional support)
  • Provide subject matter proficiency to assist and facilitate knowledge transfer in planning, discovery, and technical meetings.
The Project manager responsibilities will encompass a range of activities including, but not limited to, the following:
  • Interface with all participants and project stakeholders to ensure clear project communication and coordination    
  • Interface with clients as appropriate for specific projects.
  • Plan, budget, track, coordinate, manage and report on large-scale projects and enterprise level technology initiatives.
  • Perform various analyses and prepare written material as required, including position papers, detail project plans, Scope of Work descriptions, business requirements, implementation strategies, test plans, and training requirements.
  • Research vendor solutions and prepare Requests for Proposal as necessary.
Sample Projects that the PM might work on:
  • Disaster recovery / Business continuity
  • Cloud based server deployment / refresh
  • Security related projects
  • Compliance and policy documentation (ITIL, ISO, GDRP)
  • Process creations/re-engineering, befitting a global organization – enforce existing process and help create new ones to help mature the organization
  • Merger of new acquisitions into Korn Ferry ecosystem
  • Assist senior managers with coordination of resources.
The position is NOT:
  • Management role – The position entails managing resources but do not have people report directly to us.
  • Strictly Project Management – The PM will manage projects but will need to land a hand coordinating, documenting and researching.
  • Well defined – Our PMO is young and not very large. The PM sometimes need to build the process as we go along and often act with partial or incomplete information.
  • Hand on Technical – An understanding of IT tools and terminology is required but you will not be hands on technology, programing, configuring tools or installing devices.
Required skills include the following:
  •          Business requirements analysis and documentation
  •          Development of functional specifications
  •          Development of external design specifications (user interface design and documentation)
  •          Data Analysis and specification
  •          Reporting requirements, design and specification
  •          Quality assurance testing of reports and online applications
  •         Experience with custom software development of complex, data-intensive, UI intensive business applications.
  •         Excellent analytical skills, clear communication skills and articulation and ability to work well with both end users, systems engineers and developers
  • Experience working on international projects for a global company
Credentials preferred
  •          Project Management Professional (PMP)
  •          Certified Authorization Professional (CAP)
Required Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree and 6 year minimum experience performing as a Subject Matter Expert for software development projects and project management functions.
  • Candidates should have at least 3 years at the same company in a project management role. They can have additional contracting roles in their history but at least 1 long term role as a PM.
    • Candidates should not live more than about 25 miles away from the office. This is an ON-SITE position in Century City.
    • Technology/Compliance/Security background – The candidates do not need to be a subject matter experts but have basic understanding of the concepts. Remember, this is a role within the IT department so candidates that were PM's in areas such as sales, training, construction are probably great but will not be able to fit into this role.
    • Communication skills – Can drive a conversation with clarity and energy. Remember, the role is working with senior managers and technical folks and presenting up to the CIO. They need to be able to drive and not be passive
  • Additional:
    • GDPR, ISO 27001 experience – Great plus !!!
    • Critical Chain project management knowledge and experience is a plus
    • Building or participating in the build out of a PMO is a plus.
    • This is not a management role. Candidates need to understand that they are expected to do all tasks from note taking and scheduling to project planning budgeting and financial management. Candidates that are used to be sitting in an ivory tower and track project progress will not succeed. They need to roll up their sleeves and prove that they bring value.
    • On the flip side, they need to have experience working with senior managers so people that don't feel comfortable or never worked with senior managers will not succeed either.
